What kind of businesses usually get involved with the Youth Fishing Derby?

Places that can donate food and drink items to the concession stand are extremely important. As well as the sporting goods stores and bait shops who can donate things for the young anglers. We also need local business, restaurants and banks that provide services, items and gift cards for the youth and adult raffle prizes. Cast donations are always welcome of any amount to support the derby and the final donation to a charity organization.

How do you publicize this event?

We depend on local social networks like recreation departments, parenting groups, and youth sport leagues to help spread the information. We put signs around town and near schools, anywhere there may be “family traffic”. Notices will be put in local newspapers, newsletters and on town websites that have event calendars well as Facebook.

Will my business or group receive credit or acknowledgment for items or services I donate?

With your permission your name/business name will be printed on a handout for derby day. News articles will always include all. You will also be publicly mentioned in a thank you speech as the derby winds down that day. Should you be present at the Derby you will have time to speak directly to the crowd. You will receive an official thank you that you can hang in your place of business. Every supporter will get named on the Derby banner to be displayed at the Derby as well as their own 8×11 poster to display.

How exactly will the concession and fun raffle raise money for a charity?

Guests are asked to make a voluntary donation for the food and drink on the concession stand. And, tickets for the raffle prizes are sold in the same way. 100% of that money is donated to the benefiting organization for that year.

How do I know that the proceeds will go to a legitimate charity?

Over the years we have very carefully chosen the groups to receive the money raised at the Youth Fishing Derby. It is always an established non-profit organization with a proven track record of service to children and families. If you would like specific information on the various groups that have benefited over the years feel free to contact me.
